Rain doesn’t stop the Midsummer Celebrations

A day of community spirit and fun took place in Knowle despite the morning rain last Saturday!

Once again, Knowle businesses and community groups came together in the heart of the village for a Midsummer Celebration. The community spirit was out in full force in between the showers as the singers and dancers entertained the crowds. Charlotte from Love Knowle Park said “The entertainment from dance groups, Knowle Musical Society and singers kept everyone’s spirits up throughout the day”.

Simon from Booze and Brews said “It was great to see people enjoying the entertainment & stopping to catch up for a drink with friends. Come rain or shine, people came out to support the event – in fact, we did spot a few visitors dancing in the rain at one point! Seeing everyone come together makes all the effort organising the day worth it.” The sunshine did come out after lunchtime with visitors enjoying street food, catching up with friends, meeting community groups and having a mooch around the artisan market.

Many events in Knowle only happen due to the dedicated volunteers who both organise the event and who play a part on the day itself. Dave, Visit Knowle Director said ““I can’t thank the volunteer marshals enough. They did a sterling job in rain and shine, and I have to say, some of them had more than their fair share of rain!”

“Sue and Jenna, Visit Knowle Directors said “We are lucky to have a fabulous events team have planned even more events for 2024. Follow Visit Knowle on social media to find out about future events in the village”.

Visit Knowle hosted a stall and ran a competition to guess the birthday of a giant teddy bear. Whilst our volunteer Jenna was sad to see the teddy leave, we were delighted to find out that the winner Faith, was previously the face of our Jubilee Celebrations in 2022, with an image taken by Terry Grove appearing in local press and in the Knowle Society magazine. We’re sure the teddy, now named Hallie, will be much loved in her new home.

If you missed the Midsummer Celebrations – it’s not long until the next Knowle event – the epic return of Knowle Party in the Park on Saturday June 29th.
